Folktale
1.List some of the well-known folktales from Malaysia .

2. List some of the possible issues found in The Son of the Turtle Spirit
Some of the possible issues that can be found in The Son of The Turtle Spirit are "do not believe strangers ", "consider all aspects before take action", "believe in oneself", "love conquers everything" and " fate has its own destiny".

3.Are those issues universal in nature or are they only relevant in the Chinese culture?
Basically I feel that all the isssues that I indicate suit to all the culture and not only suit to the Chinese culture. For example, the issue "do not believe the stranger", the maiden make friend with the spirit of turtle without knowing who is he really. The issue " believe in oneself", although many people underestimate the son of the turtle spirit when he said that he can swim deep in the river, but he determine to do it because he believe in himself. Another issue is " love conquers everything " , love has the power to make anyone to follow what their heart desires for. For example, the spirit of turtle takes the form of human being to be with his ladylove.

A. First way

  • tool for fictionalizing personal acquaintances or experiences in stories.
  • students take turn to read variety fables.
  • work in group and examine the animal character by recording their list of traits share the response and discuss how the trait develop the character.
  • help students discover ways to fictionalize experiences in future stories. help students discover ways to fictionalize experiences in future stories.
  • create a list of real people and assign an animal to best represent the person's character trait.
B. Second way
  • Read the story for two times and ask questions.
  • Provide children opportunity to retell the story.
  • Ask them how the characters probably felt.
  • Ask them to make their own mask and retell the stories
  • Do again retell story.
  • Ask them to hold suitable mask to represent appropriate feeling.
